A SWF file format is a flash animation that was created by a flash development application (Adobe Flash, for example). Such files can contain text or animation with inserts of vector, raster images, audio tracks, or Action Script scripts. Such extensions are categorized as video files.
You can open files with the SWF format are with a special Adobe Flash Player application, or with a web browser that uses Flash technology. In Google Chrome a flash player is built-in, so you don’t have to install anything else. If you use a different browser (Mozilla Firefox, Yandex, Browser and others), you should install the Adobe Flash module. To create a SWF file format, you need Adobe Flash (Professional or Builder).
SWF files can be converted to various video formats (AVI, MP4, FLV, MOV, MPEG-1,2). You can do this procedure both with the help of special applications and online sites.
In most cases, SWF formats contain video and audio (for example, clips and music). They can be freely run in any player that supports the appropriate format.
To play and open a SWF file, you need to download a third-party application; standard WMP cannot handle this format. Media Player Classic is an excellent player for launching SWF file formats.
If you have downloaded and installed the program, you need to:
- Launch MPC
- Go to the directory where the desired SWF file is stored
- Drag the necessary file into the player window
- Open the SWF file format
